Why Neither Obama Nor McCain Will Save Us

By John W. Whitehead - The Rutherford Institute - Aug. 27, 2008

"In daily life, it's a lack of understanding about government that prompts people to call Congress when they want the dog catcher, or to complain to a local council member about a federal tax change. Over time, it can add up to disenfranchised and apathetic citizens." — "Ignorance of History Is No Joke" (CBS News, July 3, 2003)

The problems Americans currently face seem insurmountable, and they only appear to worsen at every turn: the deepening moral and spiritual crisis, the erosion of civil liberties, militarism and perpetual war, our declining economy, joblessness, homelessness, the mortgage crisis, a disaffected youth, crime, violence and so on. But let's be honest: it's neither the Republicans' nor the Democrats' fault that we're in such a mess today.

We have no one but ourselves to blame.

We've gotten the government—and the society—we deserve. But what did we do to deserve this bloated, power-hungry, self-serving, war-mongering bureaucracy? How did our straight-laced Puritan nation of freedom-loving citizens give way to a self-absorbed, entertainment-obsessed society?

The answer is simple: we stopped caring, and we stopped paying attention. Consciously or unconsciously, we gave up on the American Dream and, in so doing, lost our way. The facts speak for themselves. Most Americans have virtually no idea what America stands for and little idea how their government should function. Seventy percent of American adults cannot name their senators or congressmen. Nearly a quarter can't name a single right guaranteed in the First Amendment. Two-thirds can't name the three branches of government.

A poll taken several years ago reveals that Americans are more familiar with the Seven Dwarfs, Three Stooges, Harry Potter, Homer Simpson and Superman than the news of the day, world leaders or classic literature. And although America spends in excess of $40 billion annually on public education, in comparing the literacy level of adults in seventeen industrialized countries, America is number ten on the list. If knowledge of self-government and freedom are the source of our democracy, then we are in serious danger as a country.

The American Dream was once encapsulated in the hope of freedom, the right to compete in a free market and the right to own a parcel of land that you could call your own. Now, that once noble dream has been reduced to a radical individualism that is best symbolized by cell phones and shopping in mega-malls.

In fact, Americans now spend more time in malls shopping than in churches or synagogues. By 1987, America had more malls than high schools. As sociologist Sharon Zukin writes, "In a society where we no longer have contact with nature or beauty in our daily lives, shopping is one of the few ways we are left to create a sense of ultimate value."

This "sense of ultimate value" used to be found in community life and in religion. But community life has collapsed so much that, as author Alex Marshall observes, Americans live "in one of the loneliest societies on the earth." Church groups, union memberships, dinners at home with friends, bridge clubs, etc., have been all but decimated, only to be replaced by social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace that keep users at arm's reach and interacting on their own terms. Corner groceries and drugstores, owned by people who actually work and live in the community, have generally disappeared and been replaced by the blandness of corporate chain stores.

Even religion offers scant comfort anymore. Indeed, there is little spiritual depth to the politically correct, all-inclusive theology that passes for civil religion today. And Christian fundamentalism (and its political offshoot, the Christian Right), with its emphasis on amassing power and establishing a theocracy, is certainly not an answer to the American spiritual crisis.

Little surprise, then, that many Americans have turned to politics with an almost religious zeal as the answer to what ails the nation. "Change" and "Believe" campaign slogans have been trotted out, only to be eagerly picked up and chanted like religious mantras. However, we'd do well to remember that governmental bureaucracy is fervently anti-change. As for trusting or believing in a politician, James Madison put it best when he pointed out that "if men were angels, no government would be necessary."

If there is to be any real hope for change, it rests, as it always has, in "we the people" because while we may be a large part of the problem, we are also the solution. And there is great power in this.

Each generation of Americans faces the responsibility of protecting and defending the Constitution. It may be comforting to think that the problems facing America could be fixed by the next presidential election. But that is not going to happen. Neither Obama nor McCain will save us.

Any real, lasting change will have to come from within you and me—not from a political savior. Thus, if we want change, it is going to take all of us pulling together, working in our communities, addressing our all-too-real human needs.

We need to recapture the spirit of that ragtag band of revolutionaries who beat back the British Empire and gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. That will mean turning off the television, switching off the computer screen, learning more about our history and getting educated on the basics of our government and Constitution.

Then we need to act on what we know. It may start with voting, but that's the least we can do. Active, direct citizen participation at every level—local, state and federal—is the only real hope for change. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "We need to be the change we wish to see in the world."

Obama's "change" promises a continued path towards world government

Candidates from both parties will bring globalist programs

Barack Obama's July 24th speech in Berlin brought to light the Democratic Presidential candidates' globalist views, mirroring those of the Council on Foreign Relations and other globalist think tanks. Obama's praise of the European Union, calls for the "tearing down" of walls between nations and religions, and finally for world unity against climate change and terrorism reveal that an Obama Presidency will not bring change, but rather a continued erosion of national sovereignty and steps closer to world government.

Interestingly, Obama's speech was delivered beneath the "victory angel" statue in Berlin. As the Guardian reported on the 21st,

"The centrepiece of the European leg of Obama's visit will be his Berlin speech. Liberal and conservative politicians in Germany expressed consternation that Obama plans to address the crowds from beneath the golden angel statue which graces Berlin's Siegessäule, a landmark which Hitler moved to its present location as part of his bid to transform Berlin into the world capital Germania."

Obama's speech stated in part:

"That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another. The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down."

...

"Yes, there have been differences between America and Europe. No doubt, there will be differences in the future. But the burdens of global citizenship continue to bind us together. A change of leadership in Washington will not lift this burden. In this new century, Americans and Europeans alike will be required to do more -- not less. Partnership and cooperation among nations is not a choice; it is the one way, the only way, to protect our common security and advance our common humanity."

...

"The terrorists of September 11th plotted in Hamburg and trained in Kandahar and Karachi before killing thousands from all over the globe on American soil.

As we speak, cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking coastlines in the Atlantic, and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.

In this new world, such dangerous currents have swept along faster than our efforts to contain them. That is why we cannot afford to be divided. No one nation, no matter how large or powerful, can defeat such challenges alone. None of us can deny these threats, or escape responsibility in meeting them. Yet, in the absence of Soviet tanks and a terrible wall, it has become easy to forget this truth. And if we're honest with each other, we know that sometimes, on both sides of the Atlantic, we have drifted apart, and forgotten our shared destiny."

Barack Obama's remarks mirror those of Richard Haass, the president of the Council on Foreign Relations, who stated that the problems of climate change and terrorism would require a surrender of national sovereignty and ultimately the formation of a world government. "Some governments are prepared to give up elements of sovereignty to address the threat of global climate change," stated Haass. "The goal should be to redefine sovereignty for the era of globalization, to find a balance between a world of fully sovereign states and an international system of either world government or anarchy."

Obama is not the only presidential candidate with globalist ideals. John McCain's proposed League of Democracies and support of North American integration is one example. Hillary Clinton's open support for world government is another.

Obama's promise of "change" will bring no such thing. A continuation of globalist policy towards world government and weakened national sovereignty will undoubtedly be pursued.

The Meaning of Rick Warren and the Obama-McCain Interviews

By John W. Whitehead - The Rutherford Institute - Aug. 22, 2008

"I have never been considered a part of the religious right, because I don’t believe politics is the most effective way to change the world. Although public service can be a noble profession, and I believe it is our responsibility to vote, I don’t have much faith in government solutions, given the track record." — Rick Warren

The recent Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency was a wash. Both candidates, who claim to be Christians, spent much of their time pandering to the nearly three million television viewers who tuned in. But in terms of what presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama had to say, their responses were largely lacking in content.

However, the Saddleback Forum wasn’t insignificant. Its significance has less to do with what the two candidates had to say than in what the person asking the questions, Pastor Rick Warren, signifies for the future of Christianity in America.

The fact that it was Warren and not James Dobson, the Christian Right’s de facto Godfather, is particularly telling. It speaks of a decided shift away from the rigid, right-wing mindset that has dominated evangelical Christianity in America over the past three decades. Warren, pastor of the 23,000-member Saddleback Church in California and the best-selling author of The Purpose-Driven Life, seems to be about as far as you can get from the stigma of the Christian Right while still calling himself an evangelical Christian.

The Christian Right, represented by such prominent figures as Dobson, Pat Robertson and the late Jerry Falwell, among others, has long stood for the erection of a Christian State. As David Kuo, who served as Special Assistant to President George W. Bush documents in his book Tempting Faith, these Christian leaders worked hard to maintain ties to the Bush White House, complete with weekly conference calls to keep them updated on every facet of the president’s policy and political agenda.

However, the dismal failure of the George W. Bush presidency has led inevitably to the decline of the Christian Right—and can be credited with contributing to Warren’s rise to prominence. According to a 2005 Nation article, Warren “disassociates himself from the religious right, noting that he shares its position on social issues but doesn’t want to focus on them. He focuses on poverty, disease and aid to Africa.”

It’s not difficult to see why Warren, a mainline evangelical in the Billy Graham mold, is enjoying such popularity. Disillusioned by the power-hawking, war-mongering of the Christian Right, the nation’s 80 million evangelical Christians would have little trouble with the feel-good Christianity that Warren sells—non-confrontational, congenial and polite. That isn’t to say that it lacks substance, merely controversy.

As a recent Time article observed, like Graham, Warren “projects an authenticity that has helped him forge an exquisite set of political connections—in the White House, on both sides of the legislative aisle and abroad. And he is both leading and riding the newest wave of change in the Evangelical community: an expansion beyond social conservatism to causes such as battling poverty, opposing torture and combating global warming. The movement has loosened the hold of religious-right leaders on ordinary Evangelicals and created an opportunity for Warren, who has lent his prominent voice to many of the new concerns.”

Warren has avoided much that is controversial, such as abortion and gay marriage (what he refers to as “sin issues”). Instead, Warren focuses on issues that “unite,” such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, climate change and human rights. Warren is, whether consciously or unconsciously, shifting the national faith dialogue back to a pre-Reagan era, before the small group of leaders that have come to dominate the Christian Right turned Christianity into a synonym for right-wing theocracy.

Sidestepping the siren call of politics, Warren has taken aim at what he calls the “five global giants”: spiritual emptiness, selfish leadership, hunger, sickness and illiteracy. Empowered by his publishing success and with the support of his megachurch, he launched his PEACE initiative—an acronym for promote reconciliation; equip servant leaders; assist the poor; care for the sick; educate the next generation. Since coming up with the idea, he has taken his PEACE plan global, with Rwanda as his testing ground.

Warren is now being looked upon as America’s pastor. Suddenly, Christianity appears somewhat appealing again. Yet while there is much to commend this so-called New Evangelicalism, with its rejection of politics as the answer and its emphasis on carrying out Jesus’ mandate to care for the poor and helpless, there is also an important lesson to be learned. The rise of the Christian Right came about at a time when the evangelical church in America was doing its best to be non-controversial and inoffensive. The evangelical church’s subsequent failure to morally impact the culture and the legalizing of abortion can be directly attributed to the emergence of the Christian Right.

The Christian Right was, without a doubt, a semi-militant reaction to a society that seemed to be lacking a moral compass. And as journalist Chris Hedges points out in his book American Fascists, if a real crisis again arose in this country (such as another terrorist attack), it would not take much for the country to revert back to such a militant fundamentalism.

This brings us to the current presidential election. No matter who ascends to the White House, it’s clear that Christians will not enjoy the kind of access they laid claim to during the Bush administration—whatever good it did them. For example, abortions didn’t decline under Bush, and it’s doubtful whether they would under either Obama or McCain.

The lesson to be learned is this: what is needed now is not a return to the overly polite Christianity of the pre-Reagan era. Nor is it the politically charged Christianity of the Religious Right, but a brand of Christianity that does not shy away from speaking truth to power. In other words, the type of Christianity Jesus practiced.

OUR PROGNOSIS IS TERMINAL

"Whatever we once were, we’re no longer just a Christian nation; we are a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation and a nation of non-believers..." — Barack Hussein Obama

"Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right" — Barack Hussein Obama

AND THEREIN LIES THE CRUX OF THE DEMISE OF THE UNITED STATES

Our Sovereign God has moved aside and has turned us over to the consequences of our own iniquities. Our simple carnal minds harbor the seeds of self-destruction, we are our own worst enemy and all that befalls us is of our own making. We have been given over to Satan the god of this world, the old serpent, who is the epitome of evil and a venomous hater of mankind; our fate will not be kind. Only He who loves us has the power to save us, hallowed be His name.

Analysis of the Rick Warren Presidential Forum: Passion and Conviction Versus Monotone Smooth-talker

McCain may have finally redeemed himself among the evangelical right. While it was clear in his facial expressions that Pastor Rick Warren preferred Obama over McCain, McCain easily outperformed Obama in his responses to issues evangelicals care about.

The first presidential forum featuring John McCain against Barack Obama took place at evangelical Pastor Rick Warren’s megachurch Saddleback. Warren, who has all but endorsed Obama, is unlike the vast majority of evangelical pastors who are conservative, signing a statement advocating for government measures to prohibit global warming and promoting U.S. funding of AIDS prevention around the world. His sermons tend to focus on the positive feel-good aspects of Christian teachings, or the “social gospel,” avoiding the inerrant truth of the Bible.

Hooray For Jerry Corsi

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin - August 19, 2008

Dr. Jerome Corsi is probably the most controversial man in America these days. His blockbuster new book, The Obama Nation, is currently the New York Times Number One Bestseller, and media talking heads are having a hissy fit. They are incensed that there is someone of Corsi's intelligence and credentials who is willing to tell the truth about the presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, Barack Obama.

You see, the national media have elevated Obama to a position beyond sainthood: they view him as the fourth member of the Godhead. He can do no wrong. He is America's--no, check that, he is the world's--savior. How dare Dr. Corsi spoil the sacrosanct candidacy--and the media's universal anointing--of Obama?

The fact is, however, Jerry Corsi is a rare breed these days: he is an honest and objective journalist whose commitment to truth outweighs his desire for popularity. I will go even further: Jerry Corsi is what the rest of the national media should be, but aren't.

Benjamin Franklin and the other Founding Fathers believed that the First Amendment protection of the freedom of the press was necessary, because they assumed the press would serve as an independent, unbiased, and truthful check and balance to the propensities of government toward subterfuge and duplicity. And for many years, this goal was more or less fulfilled. No more.

For the most part, the national media today are nothing more than lap dogs for both major parties, but especially for the Democratic Party. We have not seen a sincere effort by the major media to circumvent the machinations of the party in power (Democrat or Republican) since the days of the Watergate investigations. The major media--especially the television media--have accommodated and even facilitated George W. Bush's corruption as much as they did Bill Clinton's--maybe more. With few exceptions, they have become nothing more than pathetic panderers of power.

Therefore, when a fellow journalist--especially one with the credentials of Jerry Corsi--writes a thoroughly researched and well-documented exposé of one of the media's darlings, packs of attack dogs descend with bloodlust. In fact, Dr. Corsi has received more intensive scrutiny from the national media in one week than Barack Obama has received since he became a candidate for President.

I say, Hooray for Jerry Corsi. And, yes, I very much appreciate the fact that he endorsed my candidacy for President by saying in his book, "I intend to vote in 2008 for Chuck Baldwin." However, readers should know that I admired Jerry Corsi and his brilliant investigative reports long before I became a candidate for President with the Constitution Party and long before he wrote his latest masterpiece. Dr. Corsi also made it clear that his book The Obama Nation was in no way intended "to be an argument for Chuck Baldwin [his quote]."

For balance, every person in America should read Dr. Corsi's book The Late Great USA. This book just might be the most important book written in this young twenty-first century. Jerry's exposure of President George W. Bush's (and his fellow travelers at the Council on Foreign Relations) globalist schemes in The Late Great USA is beyond masterful: it is a blueprint for America's survival as a free and independent republic. Therefore, no one can honestly claim that Corsi's exposé on Obama is somehow politically biased, because he has exposed the shenanigans of both Republicans and Democrats.

I just wish that Jerry had time to write an exposé on John McCain, because no one else among America's national journalists has the intention (much less the integrity) of doing it, and McCain is certainly equally deserving.

A Catholic Case Against Barack

In the Pennsylvania primary, Barack Obama rolled up more than 90 percent of the African-American vote. Among Catholics, he lost by 40 points. The cool liberal Harvard Law grad was not a good fit for the socially conservative ethnics of Altoona, Aliquippa and Johnstown.

But if Barack had a problem with Catholics then, he has a far higher hurdle to surmount in the fall, with those millions of Catholics who still take their faith and moral code seriously. ...

OBAMA & McCAIN: PAWNS OF THE GLOBAL ELITE

Will it matter if Obama or McCain are elected in November? Hardly.

Both are rigidly backed by important members of the Trilateral Commission who hijacked the Executive Branch of the U.S. government starting in 1976 with the election of Jimmy Carter.

You would think that Americans would want to know who the "special interests" are that are embodied by this Trilateral Commission, and what they intend to do or not do with America.

Obama Pledges ‘Total Equality’ for Same-Sex Families

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who has studiously avoided coming out in full support of same-sex marriage, may have finally tipped his hand on how he really feels.

In recent letters written to homosexual activist groups, the presumed Democratic nominee said he supports homosexual couples adopting babies. Further, he said, he wants to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defines marriage as being between one man and one woman – and forbids states from being forced to accept any other definition of marriage under the U.S. Constitution’s Full Faith and Credit Clause.

How Obama prepped world for the Antichrist

America has never faced so many different crises at the same time in living memory. The war with al-Qaida and Islamic terror, the Iran crisis, Afghanistan, nuclear proliferation, the rising price of oil, the falling dollar, enemy acronyms like OPEC, NAM, OIC, U.N. ... Obama is correct in saying that the world is ready for someone like him – a messiah-like figure, charismatic and glib and seemingly holding all the answers to all the world's questions.

And the Bible says that such a leader will soon make his appearance on the scene. It won't be Barack Obama, but Obama's world tour provided a foretaste of the reception he can expect to receive.

The Three Amigos

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin - August 5, 2008

Both Republican Party Presidential candidate John McCain and Democrat Party Presidential candidate Barack Obama recently spoke at the annual convention of the National Council of La Raza. I'm sure most readers understand that "La Raza" is Spanish for "The Race."

That McCain and Obama would pander before an organization such as La Raza indicates just how deeply both the Republican and Democrat parties are committed to appeasing the pro-illegal immigration forces. And mark it down: there is not a more pro-illegal alien organization in existence than La Raza.

As a comparison: can one imagine the maelstrom that would be created within the mainstream media if both major-party Presidential candidates appeared before a gathering of an all-white organization called "The Race"?

As if having the two major-party Presidential candidates appear before La Raza isn't enough, the current occupant of the White House, President George W. Bush, is also on record as supporting the goals of La Raza. Remember, it was George W. Bush, along with Senators John McCain, Ted Kennedy, and Lindsey Graham, who did everything within their power to coerce both houses of Congress into passing a sweeping amnesty bill for illegal aliens. Only a unified and thunderous protest from millions of average Americans defeated their efforts.

President Bush's support for La Raza is also demonstrated by the fact that the Bush administration (with the aid and assistance of Congress) has given millions of taxpayer dollars to the pro-illegal alien group.

Columnist Michelle Malkin recently wrote a revealing article that warned the American people of things everyone should know about La Raza. Here are a few samples.

La Raza supports driver's licenses for illegal aliens. La Raza demands in-state tuition discounts for illegal alien students that are not available to law-abiding U.S. citizens and legal immigrants. La Raza opposes cooperative immigration enforcement between local, state and federal authorities. La Raza opposes a secure fence on the southern border.

La Raza opposed the state of Oklahoma's tough immigration-enforcement-first laws, which cut off welfare to illegal aliens, put teeth in employer sanctions, and strengthened local-federal cooperation. La Raza joined other open-borders, anti-assimilationists and sued to prevent Prop. 227, California's bilingual education reform ballot initiative, from becoming law.

La Raza gives mainstream cover to a poisonous subset of ideological satellites, led by Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, or MEChA. The late Rep. Charlie Norwood rightly characterized MEChA as "a radical racist group . . . one of the most anti-American groups in the country, which has permeated U.S. campuses since the 1960s, and continues its push to carve a racist nation out of the American West."

La Raza sponsors militant ethnic nationalist charter schools subsidized by your public tax dollars (at least $8 million in federal grants). La Raza thrives on ethnic supremacy--and the elite's unwillingness to call it what it is. As historian Victor Davis Hanson observes: "[The] organization's very nomenclature 'The National Council of La Raza' is hate speech to the core. Despite all the contortions of the group, Raza (as its Latin cognate suggests) reflects the meaning of 'race' in Spanish, not 'the people'--and that's precisely why we don't hear of something like 'The National Council of the People,' which would not confer the buzz notion of ethnic, racial and tribal chauvinism." (Source: National Review Online)

In spite of La Raza's obvious racist, anti-American agenda, both John McCain and Barack Obama were more than happy to prostitute themselves in front of this grubby group. And, as already noted, President Bush has repeatedly championed many of La Raza's goals and has rewarded La Raza with millions of federal tax dollars.

Accordingly, President George W. Bush, and Senators John McCain and Barack Obama are not only three peas in a pod when it comes to illegal immigration: they are The Three Amigos.

Just as George W. Bush has no intention of securing America's borders, neither does John McCain nor Barack Obama. Both of these Presidential candidates will continue the policies of their predecessor and leave the U.S. wide open to the threat of potential terrorists, drug dealers, violent gang members, and felonious criminals.

The reason for this should be obvious: McCain and Obama, along with many others in Washington, D.C., do not believe in putting America first. They are globalists through and through. As I have often said, the real battle today is not between liberals and conservatives. Those labels are meaningless. It is not between Republicans and Democrats. Pat Buchanan was right when he said that the two major parties are merely "two wings of the same bird of prey."

The real battle today is between Americans and globalists. Between those who believe in constitutional government, national sovereignty and independence, secure borders, and putting America first, and those who want to merge the United States into some kind of global New World Order.

As I said, John McCain and Barack Obama are globalists. And their pandering before an anti-American, racist organization such as La Raza proves it.

Obama Hood and Obamanomics

The latest economic proposal coming from Barak Obama is a socialist’s dream. The president-in-waiting wants to steal money from oil companies and, in an act of blessedness and benevolence, give a check of $1,000 to American “middle class” families, hoping, of course, that more people will vote for him in the upcoming election. The ripple effect of Obamanomics would be a disaster.

Obama's Vision for Government-Run Childhood

Encouraging this flight from parenthood, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has proposed what he calls his "Zero to Five" plan. It is a collection of programs aimed at getting the government involved in the raising of your children from the moment they are born.

"The first part of my plan focuses on providing quality affordable early childhood education to every child in America," Obama said in a November speech. "As president, I will launch a Children's First Agenda that provides care, learning and support to families with children ages zero to five."

Obama Rejects English Language Assimilation

by Phyllis Schlafly, July 23, 2008

One would think that a presidential candidate who has no military service, who survived a public controversy about attending a church for 20 years where the pastor preached "hate America," plus a flap about his refusal to wear an American Flag pin, would bend over backwards to showcase his patriotism. But Barack Obama has just given his critics another reason to question his support of American identity.

Obama said, "Understand this: Instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English ... you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish." But who "needs to make sure"? parents? public schools? government nannies?

Expanding on this theme, Obama added, "You should be thinking about how can your child become bilingual... It's embarrassing ... when Europeans come over here, they all speak English ... And then we go over to Europe, and all we can say is Merci beaucoup."

Embarrassed? We surely don't want a President representing our nation in foreign travels who is embarrassed about our country. We want a President who is proud to stand up for America, our culture, our language, our laws and our customs.

Most Americans look upon the English language as the number-one factor that defines our national identity: "e pluribus unum," one nation out of many peoples. We want English to be our national, official language, spoken by all who call themselves Americans.

The Zogby Poll reports that 83 percent of Americans favor legislation to make English our official language. Thirty states have designated English as the official language of their states, and ten more states are considering such legislation.

Obama is pandering to Hispanic voters by suggesting that the rest of us have a duty to speak Spanish. Most Americans not only don't want to speak Spanish, we are annoyed by voices on the telephone telling us to "Press 1 (or sometimes 2) for English," and we are outraged at the thought that a President would try to impose a Spanish obligation on us.

Only 26 percent of Americans, according to a Rasmussen survey, believe that every American should be able to speak two languages. Even that low number would probably nosedive if confronted with the notion that the government might enforce bilingualism on us.

Why should that second language be Spanish? The United States today has immigrants who speak over 200 different languages. Should the Asian immigrants be forced to learn Spanish as well as English?

Obama's statement is not only out of sync with the big majority of Americans, but it is condescending and further evidence of the elitist attitude the Obamas displayed when Barack looked down his nose at Americans whom he said rely on religion and guns because they are "bitter," and when Michelle said that Barack's campaign was "the first time" she was "really proud of my country."

Americans are not backward hicks because we don't learn a second language. We consider it a waste of time because English is fast becoming the worldwide language and because the ability to speak English is the litmus test of whether or not immigrants are assimilating into the American culture.

Obama conceded that immigrants should learn English but, unfortunately, many do not. The Pew Hispanic Center reported that only 52 percent of Hispanic naturalized citizens speak English well or pretty well, and that 28 percent of Latino immigrants speak only Spanish on the job.

Obama voted against making English our official language on four Senate roll-call votes. In 2006 and 2007 he voted twice against Senator James Inhofe's (R-OK) amendment to repeal Bill Clinton's Executive Order 13166, and voted twice in favor of Senator Ken Salazar's (D-CO) amendment to make Executive Order 13166 stronger than it already is.

Executive Order 13166 discourages assimilation by committing all executive-branch agencies to provide all federal benefits and services in foreign languages (even though the Supreme Court held in Alexander v. Sandoval that immigrants have no right to demand this).

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission discourages assimilation by suing over 200 employers for requiring English to be spoken by employees on the job (even though a Rasmussen survey found that 77 percent of Americans believe that employers should be allowed to do this).

Providing foreign language ballots discourages assimilation (even though only citizens are supposed to vote and to become a naturalized U.S. citizen, the immigrant must demonstrate "the ability to read, write and speak ordinary English").

Bilingual education (known as language apartheid) discourages assimilation by keeping children with Hispanic-sounding names for years in Spanish-language public school classes (even though bilingual ed has been rejected by the voters in referenda from California to Massachusetts).

It's no surprise that the Rasmussen survey reports that 59 percent of Americans believe government actually encourages immigrants to retain their home-country culture instead of assimilating into America. Senator and Mrs. Obama should tell immigrants to assimilate and get the facts from the new Bradley Foundation report called "E Pluribus Unum: America's National Identity."

I Am An American!

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin
July 18, 2008

Free republics are not known to have long life expectancies. At the ripe old age of two hundred and thirty-two, America is definitely showing her age. She is long past her prime, and some are predicting her demise. No, some are PLANNING her demise.

Thomas Jefferson and the other founders of this once-great country believed there was a controlling cabal that was crafting America's servitude. With the assistance of Heaven, they decided to fight those forces. Pastors fought with fiery sermons from the pulpit; newsmen fought with the power of the pen; statesmen fought in the halls of Congress; and merchants fought with the sacrifice of their material gain. Together, they lifted Lady Liberty to her feet and defeated the powers of darkness.

It took the global elite a long time to recover, but they have reemerged with a vengeance. They are now on the precipice of accomplishing what their great granddaddies failed to do: bring the "Liberty or Death" colonists under their power and control.

Sadly, we no longer have the will to resist servitude. Our pulpits are too busy preaching a prosperity gospel; newsmen are in bed with the forces they once disdained; statesmen have been replaced with opportunistic, self-serving politicians; and merchants know no god but money. Hence, it is left to a small--and I mean very small--remnant to sound the clarion call for freedom and independence. Unfortunately, few seem to be listening to their cries.

2010 seems to be a banner year for these designers of despotism. That is the target year for the implementation of the North American Community, which will commercially unite the United States with Canada and Mexico. The global elite suffered a minor setback when the U.S. Senate failed to pass the Bush/McCain/Kennedy/Graham amnesty-for-illegal-aliens bill. But if you think that John Mccain is going to let that bill lie on the floor of defeat, you don't understand these people. Should McCain become President, He will do everything he can to implement some kind of amnesty law. Barack Obama will do the same. The reason? It is essential to the designers of despotism that our borders be eliminated.

Yes, I am saying it: George W. Bush, John McCain, and Barack Obama are part of the global elite that seeks America's entrance into an international New World Order. In fact, neither Presidential candidate from the two major parties will offer any resistance to this obstinate and oppressive oligarchy.

Perhaps one day the American people will wake up and realize that they are being led as sheep to the slaughter. I'm just not sure that it will be soon enough, however. 2010 is just around the corner.

There seems to be only one obstacle standing in the way of the globalists: America's citizens are the most heavily armed people in the world. That fact must surely stick in the throats of the globalists like a chicken bone.

Thank God that America's founders put the Second Amendment in the Constitution. Without America's deep-rooted commitment to the right of the people to keep and bear arms, we would have been sold into slavery decades ago.

Without the intellectual understanding of the principles of freedom and the moral resolve to maintain those principles, however, guns, by themselves, will only protect us for so long. In the end, our strength and protection come from God, and not too many people these days seem to be interested in His opinion.

Lady Liberty is walking very gingerly these days, and the path she treads is laden with traps and quicksand. The globalists have their handpicked puppets positioned to take up where The Three Amigos (George Bush I, Bill Clinton, and George Bush II) have left off. The pieces of the puzzle are almost all in place. 2010 just might be the year that Lady Liberty lowers her torch, folds her arms, and falls fast asleep.

For what it is worth, however, I pledge no loyalty to this emerging New World Order. Neither will I let Lady Liberty die without a fight. I will say it again: the battle today is not between conservatives and liberals or Republicans and Democrats. It is a battle between Americans and globalists. And, Ladies and Gentlemen, I am an American!

What Does Obama's Call For Change and Europe Have in Common?

Barack Obama's much touted campaign cries for "Change We Can Believe In" and the response of the everyday citizens of Europe to the recent "no" vote from the Irish are raising the same questions on two continents. What are the questions?

By Michael Bresciani

Average Americans are not fully aware of the machinations of their own political system so when it comes to European politics they are largely in the dark. Admittedly most Europeans feel they are in the dark now too since the Irish vote to ratify the Lisbon Treaty was shot down on June 12, 2008.

The short version is that the Lisbon Treaty would set the pace for national elections in the EU that would get them a pres and vice pres etc and thus be governed more uniformly. This of course is not the only provision of the treaty but it is the one that eschatologist and some US political pundits would be most interested in. It is out of the first few rulers or presidents over the EU that the bible's Antichrist will emerge.

Oddly the cry following the Irish "no" vote to the treaty has been a call for more passion and boldness and of course change. Across the board Europeans are demanding change and some think the change will positively affect not only the EU but the entire world. Some EU citizens have voiced their opinions which run relatively parallel across the board in news and blogs sites to those found in America. Typical are the comments found in news sites like the EU Observer.

"Whatever the result of the Irish referendum, the fact remains that a substantial number of EU citizens are unhappy. The root cause is the EU's democratic deficit and the solution could be a European Movement for Democratic Change, argues Peter Sain ley" Berry. EUO June 13, 2008

"The succession of crises that the world is currently facing should encourage members of the European Parliament to develop new political philosophies to move Europe and the world along a more sustainable path." EUO May 23, 2008

In America Sen. Obama's stand for same sex civil unions and his support for Roe V. Wade are running right along side the impassioned promise from Brussels that it will provide strong no sexual orientation discrimination measures for the continent and its satellite members. In fact those measures and abortion rights are now already entry requirements for new members to the EU.

Besides gearing up for the planned blockade of truckers around the city of Brussels to protest high gas prices it seems Europeans don't want any intervention from the government regarding their sexual preferences, habits, proclivities or outright perversions. America may be a few paces ahead of Europe in the common-hood of all that is raunchy but the EU and America are more tag partners than competitors.

With Hollywood leading the way with new all gay TV offerings and programs that flaunt everything salacious like "Sex and the City" not to mention the "Lifetime Achievement Award" to be awarded to Playboy's Hugh Hefner; it would seem America should be checking the world's supply of latex for condoms instead of oil for our cars.

It is impossible not to hear the echoes of Billy Graham's now legendary proclamation that if God doesn't judge America he will have to resurrect Sodom and Gomorrah and apologize.
Judgment; now there's a word America has all but forgotten. But that's not all America has forgotten.

Obama's rallying cry for change may be sweeping the young blood of our nation to a heart that is choked off and undergoing a cardiac arrest just as it did in Mao's China or Hitler's youth movements. The now generation can hardly be expected to remember the dangerous conditions that prevailed over five decades ago. They are busy fighting germs, stains, and odors or dealing with the new trendy maladies the drug companies have informed us about like E.D. or America's collective national sexually bent O.C.D. If there is any time left after that we might be found watching American Idol or attending a lively Obama campaign rally.

With plenty of attitude those who only recently broke away from mom will muster the mood, momentum and misinformation that drives the wave of "change" along its inevitable course. Forget that all waves eventually dissipate or crash violently to the shore. Give us buckets for our slaughtered unborn babies and freedom for our sexual deviance in all its forms and forget the invisible forces of gravity and the waxing and waning of the moon that pulls the ocean around like a dog on a leash.

The most highly educated generation in American history fully understands how unseen, undetected and voiceless gravity moves the mighty ocean around like water in a bottle. But they can't discern that they are being led willingly by the hidden Prince of darkness pulling the tide of humanity to a day of reckoning. Forget the warnings of the Bible thumpers, preachers and prophets who would interrupt the dance before the music is gone. Change is the keyword, the rallying cry, the secret catch word that when heard calls the crowds to break from the milling and dull repetitions of the slow and tiresome past.

Much like the waves of the ocean are the tasteless repetitive, derogatory and wholly tiresome jokes and allusions to Sen. John McCain's age on late night comedy shows. Unlike the EU, age discrimination is not much of a problem in the US but it should be. Maybe its time the cowardly purveyors and philosophers of PC let the O word catch up to the N word. It is time to understand that time is still the most powerful teacher known to man and if hindsight is truly 20/20 then McCain comes out as the visionary not Sen. Obama.

In thirty five years of teaching the Bible tenants of the second coming of Christ (eschatology) I have heard the question "do you think he could be the Antichrist" asked thousands of times about dozens of people. Now I see the question being asked about Sen. Obama on blogs and websites and in fellowship halls more than any other name to date.

I don't believe that he is the Antichrist because according to scripture the Antichrist comes from and rules over Europe. But since the false prophet who aids the Antichrist comes from a completely different nation I am watching Obama's meteoric rise with that fact in mind.

We who love America and its constitution and original purpose are disgusted beyond measure with what is happening to our nation. We who love God and trust his word are seeing prophecy unrolling right before our eyes. It doesn't make it any easier to swallow but we are always thankful that warnings were part of Gods grace to us so we wouldn't be easily deceived or overcome. Christ comforted those who were to see the ugliness of the last days bring the world to its knees with a saying that calls the big cry for change for the sake of change what it really is; a cunningly attractive deception.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. MT. 24:24

THINK YOU HAVE A CHOICE?

Regarding the 2008 presidential election, I have in recent articles already explained how Senators John McCain and Barack Obama are both acceptable to the PE [Power Elite] and are surrounded by CFR advisors. The point is that in election after election, the people think they have a choice but they really don’t. ...

Since we know the disastrous “change” Carter brought us, the power elite could set up Obama to lose to McCain, who pleased the power elite (PE) on June 20, 2008 while addressing the Economic Club of Toronto by signaling his support for the Security and Prosperity Partnership. He said the next president will add to the “security and prosperity of North American.” He also referred to our “security partnership,” the “integration of our economies,” and our “shared destiny.” He further indicated he would “defend NAFTA without equivocation,” and that the U.S. should “deepen its partnerships throughout the hemisphere and the world.” Because of upcoming national economic difficulties, McCain would serve only one term. Then the power elite could bring Hillary back in 2012. ...

James Dobson Terrified by President Obama

Dobson then unleashed this broadside against Obama: "What terrifies me is the thought that he might be our president...might be in the Oval Office...might be the leader of the free world...might be the commander in chief — because as I said a minute ago, the man is dangerous, especially in regard to this issue of morality. I can’t tell you how strongly I feel about this."

Self government and a republic in name only

The past 200 years, of course, has seen a steady acceleration of power and tax dollars transferred from one segment of society to another. Too many Americans from coast to coast have forfeited their responsibility of self-government. They have handed it off to bureaucrats and elected or party officials. The result has been a moral, and in fact, intellectual corruption.

Why else would so many people tell poll takers that they think Barack Obama can solve their personal economic problems? Such ignorance doesn't happen by accident.
