Why Neither Obama Nor McCain Will Save Us

By John W. Whitehead - The Rutherford Institute - Aug. 27, 2008

"In daily life, it's a lack of understanding about government that prompts people to call Congress when they want the dog catcher, or to complain to a local council member about a federal tax change. Over time, it can add up to disenfranchised and apathetic citizens." — "Ignorance of History Is No Joke" (CBS News, July 3, 2003)

The problems Americans currently face seem insurmountable, and they only appear to worsen at every turn: the deepening moral and spiritual crisis, the erosion of civil liberties, militarism and perpetual war, our declining economy, joblessness, homelessness, the mortgage crisis, a disaffected youth, crime, violence and so on. But let's be honest: it's neither the Republicans' nor the Democrats' fault that we're in such a mess today.

We have no one but ourselves to blame.

We've gotten the government—and the society—we deserve. But what did we do to deserve this bloated, power-hungry, self-serving, war-mongering bureaucracy? How did our straight-laced Puritan nation of freedom-loving citizens give way to a self-absorbed, entertainment-obsessed society?

The answer is simple: we stopped caring, and we stopped paying attention. Consciously or unconsciously, we gave up on the American Dream and, in so doing, lost our way. The facts speak for themselves. Most Americans have virtually no idea what America stands for and little idea how their government should function. Seventy percent of American adults cannot name their senators or congressmen. Nearly a quarter can't name a single right guaranteed in the First Amendment. Two-thirds can't name the three branches of government.

A poll taken several years ago reveals that Americans are more familiar with the Seven Dwarfs, Three Stooges, Harry Potter, Homer Simpson and Superman than the news of the day, world leaders or classic literature. And although America spends in excess of $40 billion annually on public education, in comparing the literacy level of adults in seventeen industrialized countries, America is number ten on the list. If knowledge of self-government and freedom are the source of our democracy, then we are in serious danger as a country.

The American Dream was once encapsulated in the hope of freedom, the right to compete in a free market and the right to own a parcel of land that you could call your own. Now, that once noble dream has been reduced to a radical individualism that is best symbolized by cell phones and shopping in mega-malls.

In fact, Americans now spend more time in malls shopping than in churches or synagogues. By 1987, America had more malls than high schools. As sociologist Sharon Zukin writes, "In a society where we no longer have contact with nature or beauty in our daily lives, shopping is one of the few ways we are left to create a sense of ultimate value."

This "sense of ultimate value" used to be found in community life and in religion. But community life has collapsed so much that, as author Alex Marshall observes, Americans live "in one of the loneliest societies on the earth." Church groups, union memberships, dinners at home with friends, bridge clubs, etc., have been all but decimated, only to be replaced by social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace that keep users at arm's reach and interacting on their own terms. Corner groceries and drugstores, owned by people who actually work and live in the community, have generally disappeared and been replaced by the blandness of corporate chain stores.

Even religion offers scant comfort anymore. Indeed, there is little spiritual depth to the politically correct, all-inclusive theology that passes for civil religion today. And Christian fundamentalism (and its political offshoot, the Christian Right), with its emphasis on amassing power and establishing a theocracy, is certainly not an answer to the American spiritual crisis.

Little surprise, then, that many Americans have turned to politics with an almost religious zeal as the answer to what ails the nation. "Change" and "Believe" campaign slogans have been trotted out, only to be eagerly picked up and chanted like religious mantras. However, we'd do well to remember that governmental bureaucracy is fervently anti-change. As for trusting or believing in a politician, James Madison put it best when he pointed out that "if men were angels, no government would be necessary."

If there is to be any real hope for change, it rests, as it always has, in "we the people" because while we may be a large part of the problem, we are also the solution. And there is great power in this.

Each generation of Americans faces the responsibility of protecting and defending the Constitution. It may be comforting to think that the problems facing America could be fixed by the next presidential election. But that is not going to happen. Neither Obama nor McCain will save us.

Any real, lasting change will have to come from within you and me—not from a political savior. Thus, if we want change, it is going to take all of us pulling together, working in our communities, addressing our all-too-real human needs.

We need to recapture the spirit of that ragtag band of revolutionaries who beat back the British Empire and gave us the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. That will mean turning off the television, switching off the computer screen, learning more about our history and getting educated on the basics of our government and Constitution.

Then we need to act on what we know. It may start with voting, but that's the least we can do. Active, direct citizen participation at every level—local, state and federal—is the only real hope for change. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "We need to be the change we wish to see in the world."

OUR PROGNOSIS IS TERMINAL

"Whatever we once were, we’re no longer just a Christian nation; we are a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation and a nation of non-believers..." — Barack Hussein Obama

"Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right" — Barack Hussein Obama

AND THEREIN LIES THE CRUX OF THE DEMISE OF THE UNITED STATES

Our Sovereign God has moved aside and has turned us over to the consequences of our own iniquities. Our simple carnal minds harbor the seeds of self-destruction, we are our own worst enemy and all that befalls us is of our own making. We have been given over to Satan the god of this world, the old serpent, who is the epitome of evil and a venomous hater of mankind; our fate will not be kind. Only He who loves us has the power to save us, hallowed be His name.

Pray the Vote - America needs prayer in 2008

Whether your involvement in the political process has been limited to a casual glance at the debates or you are deeply involved, you may never have thought to engage the electoral process through prayer!

Prayer is the most significant way you can impact our country. When you bring the political process before God, things happen—by God’s initiative, and in your mind and heart. It’s a powerful and empowering process. We urge you to try it and see!

MEXICAN ARMY/DRUG CRIMINALS ATTACK U.S.

[What follows is a revelation of treason by elected and appointed U.S. officials who are so concerned with pleasing their new world order bosses (CFR, Bilderbergers, Trilateral Commission, LaRaza, etc.) that they forget about U.S. citizens and their safety. THIS IS TREASON! IT IS UP TO YOU TO STOP IT. YOU HAD BETTER, IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE. - ed.]

Mexican army invades U.S., holds border cop at gunpoint

'It is fortunate this incident didn't end in a very ugly gunfight'

"Mexican military personnel crossed over the border and pointed rifles at him," the union said. "Backup units arrived from the Ajo Border Patrol station, and the Mexican military personnel eventually returned to Mexico."

WND reported an investigation by Judicial Watch that revealed dozens of armed incursions by Mexican soldiers and police into the U.S. during fiscal year 2007.

The report obtained by the Washington-based organization that investigates and prosecutes government corruption documented 29 confirmed incidents along the U.S.-Mexican border involving Mexican military and/or law enforcement personnel during that time.

"These documents not only show the dangerous and chaotic situation at the Mexican border, but also the complicity of some Mexican government agents in violating U.S. law," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said at the time of the report.

Are We Headed For Jericho?

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin - March 28, 2008

A friend recently turned me on to the CBS television series, Jericho. I watch so little network television that I confess to never having seen the show before this week. Obviously, then, I am quite uninformed as to the overall plot and previous episodes. What I saw Tuesday evening, however, stunned me. Why? Because it very aptly depicted what could become a very real-life scenario for these United States in the not-so-distant future.

If I accurately picked up the basic plot of the show, average, freedom-loving citizens in the Western U.S. are fighting against tyrannical elements of their own government, including military forces. The State of Texas has declared its independence from the corrupt new government and another civil war is breaking out in America. And all this was predicated upon a nuclear attack, which some believed was an inside job. Am I close?

Contributing further to my amazement was the way Jericho used real-life political events to depict America's fall into tyranny. I was flabbergasted to see the characters of Jericho refer to the Continuity of Government act as the foundation for the government's declaration of martial law after the nuclear attack had occurred.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Continuity of Government (COG) act is not television make-believe: it is the real deal.

To read up on COG, go to Wikipedia's entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuity_of_Operations_Plan

In addition, I have reported the potential problems associated with COG in this column.

See http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20070112.html

See also http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20070525.html

Here is a quote from the Wikipedia entry: "The George W. Bush administration put the Continuity of Operations plan into effect for the first time directly following the September 11, 2001 attacks. Their implementation involves a rotating staff of 75 to 150 senior officials and other government workers from every Cabinet department and other parts of the executive branch in two secure bunkers on the East Coast . . . .

"The Bush Administration officially admitted the implementation of the plan on March 1, 2002. Key congressional leaders say they didn't know this government-in-waiting had been established.

"On July 18, 2007 Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., a member of the U. S. House Committee on Homeland Security, was denied access to the classified version of the continuity of government plan. Though members can access classified information, this is the first time documents have been denied."

As I wrote on January 12, 2007, "In a nutshell, proponents of COG envision a terrorist attack that would precipitate the suspension of the U.S. Constitution. Specifically, COG would authorize Congress to appoint its own members, including those in state legislatures, without a vote of the people. COG even envisions the enactment of such authority for reasons of 'incapacitation' (whatever that is) even if no emergency exists."

Noted author, Dr. Jerome Corsi, wrote this of Bush's enactment of COG, "Translated into layman's terms, when the president determines a national emergency has occurred, the president can declare to the office of the presidency powers usually assumed by dictators to direct any and all government and business activities until the emergency is declared over."

Contrary to the ranting of politicians and media talking heads about how great things are going in these United States, millions of Americans are becoming increasingly aware of the total corruption, crookedness, and chicanery of government officials. They have had it with being lied to, cheated, and beaten down with thousands of rules, regulations, and laws, which serve only to empower the political and business elite. They do not trust any of their politicians to tell them the truth. Their money and jobs are disappearing; their children are being brainwashed in government schools; their homes and property are being taxed out of existence; and even their country's very sovereignty is being forfeited to foreign interests. I believe the level of frustration and anger is rising to the point that a Jericho scenario could very easily occur.

I personally believe there are only three reasons why we are not already living the Jericho experience. One, people have been quite comfortable in their own personal lifestyles. They have enjoyed comfortable homes, nice automobiles, fine clothes, and pleasure-filled vacations. Who in their right mind wants to give up the tranquility of hearth and home? Two, most of America still rests upon a Christian foundation. As such, Americans believe in peace and harmony. They believe in law and order. They believe in submitting to authority. Three, there has not been an overt, large-scale attempt by government to confiscate the firearms of the American people. Remember, it was the Crown's attempted gun confiscation at Concord that ignited the American Revolution back in 1775.

However, the materialistic comfort of the average American is quickly fading away. People are losing their jobs, their livelihoods, their homes, and their savings. More than that, they are losing hope for a better tomorrow, and they are losing confidence in their government to honestly protect their freedoms--even their national identity.

Plus, most Christians know that there is such a thing as lawful rebellion. Even Christ's early disciples said no to various governments during extreme situations. And for us Americans, freedom and liberty runs deep in our veins. Many of us have not buried our Don't Tread On Me banners. We share the sentiment of Benjamin Franklin who said, "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God."

Furthermore, Hurricane Katrina put the American people on notice that their government is more than willing to confiscate their firearms. Plus, the forthcoming Supreme Court ruling regarding the right to keep and bear arms is likely to authorize even tighter government regulation on this fundamental right. Even more disconcerting are the reports we are hearing from soldiers coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan telling us that they are being told to prepare for orders to turn their weapons on the American people, should the President declare martial law. (I have had more than one Iraq War veteran tell me this.)

I am afraid that the CBS television series Jericho is more than fantasy: it could be a prediction of the future. As Thomas Jefferson said, "I tremble for my country."

George Washington: Who Is That?

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin - March 18, 2008

A recent USA Today report confirmed what most of us already knew: America has lost touch with its history. The story ran on February 26, 2008 and begins by saying, "Big Brother. McCarthyism. The patience of Job.

"Don't count on your typical teenager to nod knowingly the next time you drop a reference to any of these. A study out today finds that about half of 17-year-olds can't identify the books or historical events associated with them.

"Twenty-five years after the federal report A Nation At Risk challenged U.S. public schools to raise the quality of education, the study finds high schoolers still lack important historical and cultural underpinnings of 'a complete education.'"

This report only touches the tip of the iceberg. The fact is, the current generation of Americans is more "historically challenged" than any previous generation. The public education system has all but eradicated a healthy knowledge and respect for American history. I believe the indifference of public education to our great history is deliberate and intentional.

Not only is true American history not being taught, what is being taught is mostly a distortion of our history. For example, virtually every child in America can quickly identify Martin Luther King, Jr., as the father of the civil rights movement, but many, if not most, cannot identify George Washington as the Father of Our Country. Fewer still know that James Madison was The Father of the U.S. Constitution or that Sam Adams was the Father of the American Revolution. School children are indoctrinated in political-correctness, but are taught nothing of the fundamental principles of liberty upon which America was founded.

By contrast, when I attended a public elementary school back in the 1960s, I well remember reading copious volumes on America's Founding Fathers. In fact, I recall that our required reading included documents such as Washington's Farewell Address. On the whole, however, today's public school children do not even recognize names such as Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, or Alexander Hamilton.

Beyond that, about the only references that are given about America's founders are insults, criticisms, and downright slander. Our Founding Fathers are referred to as racists, homophobes, extremists, etc. Even the faith of America's founders is mostly impugned in modern public education. Their deep reverence for God and the Bible is either totally ignored or, just as often, ridiculed. Hardly ever will a child learn that our nation's founders were mostly (by a vast margin) Christians. If there is any reference at all to their faith, they are simply called "Deists," (a belief-system which can be honestly applied to only a couple of founders).

Without an understanding of our Christian history and heritage, however, people cannot possibly comprehend the principles that galvanized Colonial America and glued this republic together. Without at least a rudimentary understanding of Natural Law, one cannot possibly comprehend--much less appreciate--America's Declaration of Independence, our war for independence, or the Bill of Rights.

Is it any wonder, then, that our country seems to lack both a rudder and a compass? Is it any wonder that multiculturalism is in the process of tearing our country apart? If things continue as they are currently going, these United States of America will soon become a regionalized, hemispheric, borderless state, without distinction or recognition. A nation without a history is a nation without a future.

In the meantime, it is not surprising that so many American families are completely bypassing the public education system and choosing to homeschool their children. Others are sending their children to private, Christian, or parochial schools, because public schools have become little more than massively-expensive incubators of violence, teen pregnancy, illiteracy, and anti-America propaganda. And that goes for many of our institutions of higher learning as well.

Add to a public education system that already reeks of failure the unbelievable situation in California, where the promotion of homosexuality is part of the curriculum and where homeschool parents are being threatened with criminal prosecution. It is perfectly understandable why an organized effort is underway in The Golden State called California Exodus 2008, which encourages and assists parents in removing their children from the public schools.

See the Exodus Mandate website at
http://www.exodusmandate.org

This is also the reason why my staff and I worked so hard to put together The Freedom Documents, a compilation of 50 of our country's great historical documents in one volume, under one title. The next printing of The Freedom Documents will be in June, 2008, but we do have a special early printing of some 30 copies of The Freedom Documents currently on hand, which may be purchased now. Or, readers may also reserve their copies of The Freedom Documents for the June printing now.

To order or reserve Freedom Documents, go here:
http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/products.html

If we do not have a serious and concerted effort to restore knowledge and respect for America's history quickly, this once-great land of liberty will not long survive. I applaud the efforts of many who are desperately trying to resurrect a hunger and thirst for American history. Unfortunately, in order to succeed at our task, we are competing against a heavily financed (by our own tax dollars) public education monstrosity that seeks to bury our history in the graveyard of irrelevance. We must not let that happen.

If you still have children at home, make reading and studying American history a high priority. Beyond that, prayerfully consider moving your children out of the public school system. Most communities have networks of homeschooling parents that can answer questions regarding the homeschool alternative. And, of course, most communities have a few--or in some cases many--private and/or Christian schools nearby.

If we rely on the public school system, the mainstream media, the entertainment industry, or even most churches to help teach America's great history and heritage to our children, they will not learn it. And what they do learn will be nothing short of anti-America propaganda. If our children are going to learn American history, they are going to learn it from their parents and grandparents. So, Mom and Dad, what are you waiting for? Get busy!

Children of the Night: Child Prostitution Is America’s Dirty Little Secret

By John W. Whitehead - The Rutherford Institute - July 28, 2008

Carissa Phelps was only 12 years old when she ran away from the Fresno County group home where her mother had left her. Hungry and alone, the runaway was befriended by a man three times her age. And the price of a hot dog and Pepsi was all it cost the man to get her to a seedy motel.

Carissa soon found herself drawn into the world of child prostitution. It begins with men who first befriend lost girls like Carissa, then force them to have sex with other adult men and take whatever money they earn. Twenty years later, Carissa has managed to escape the desperate “survival sex” lifestyle that has become a dead-end road for many young people.

Others, however, are not so fortunate. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, child prostitution has become a problem of epidemic proportions, with estimates ranging between 300,000 and 800,000 (five million or more are prostituted globally). Those figures are likely even higher when one considers how many street kids—runaways, thrown-aways and cast-offs from the foster care system—remain unaccounted for in America. Left to fend for themselves, these young girls and boys quickly become prey for small-time pimps and organized sex-trafficking rings.

Amazingly, many children are introduced to prostitution by family members or acquaintances such as parents, older siblings or boyfriends. The internet, especially websites such as Craigslist, Facebook and MySpace, has made it even easier to prey on children without being easily detected by law enforcement.

Child prostitution is America’s “dirty little secret,” one that cuts across racial and socio-economic divides. As Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin observed, “It’s one of those issues that doesn’t get discussed and therefore there’s an assumption that perhaps either it doesn’t exist at all or the young women and girls who are prostitutes are there by their own free will.” Yet there is little to suggest that these children ever willingly choose such a lifestyle. Even the term “child prostitute” is something of a misnomer, suggesting that it is the child—and not the adult handler—who has opted to sell him or herself for sex.

Children who are sold for sex (the majority are female) typically range in age from 11 to 17, with some as young as 9 years old. Once they have been lured or forced into prostituting themselves, these children are subjected to a full range of injuries, diseases, pregnancies, mental issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder and depression and drug addiction, not to mention criminal and delinquency charges if they are caught. For those who are “rescued” out of the system, the stigma of having once been part of the sex trade is hard to overcome.

Yet while most people are barely aware of the sex trafficking industry, it infects suburbs, cities and towns across the nation. “This is not a problem that only happens in New York and Los Angeles and San Francisco,” stated Ernie Allen of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. “This happens in smaller communities. The only way not to find this in any American city is simply not to look for it.”

Unfortunately, Americans have become good at turning away from things that make us uncomfortable or stray too far from our picture-perfect images of ourselves. Yet the harsh reality is that this epidemic is largely one of our own making. Simply put, we have failed to prioritize or protect our young people, leaving them to fend for themselves.

There are a multitude of factors that have contributed to the explosive growth of child prostitution in recent years. These range from the rampant availability of porn over the internet and the unabashed peddling of sex by advertisers and the entertainment industry to a complete lack of role models for young people and a failure by religious organizations to engage or impact them in any meaningful way.

Yet it is the family—and its breakdown over the past 40 years—that has had the greatest impact on young people today. The rise of single-parent homes, the drop in marriage rates and soaring divorce rates are a testament to this breakdown. Just consider the family background of a child who has fallen into prostitution: typically, it includes an absentee parent, marital separation, domestic violence, substance abuse, prostitution activities within the family and neighborhood influence.

Sadly, while we as a society have failed to adequately register the importance of family on our children, those who prey on young people understand it all too well. According to a study conducted through the University of Pennsylvania, 75% of known child prostitutes work for pimps, who are adept at creating a pseudo-family environment by promising money, love and affection to children coming from dysfunctional homes who are seeking care and nourishment. These sexual predators then strip these children of whatever money they make and severely abuse them in order to establish a relationship of dependency.

So where does this leave the thousands of young people forced to sell themselves for sex every day just to survive to see the next day?

There are few cut-and-dried solutions. We can continue to throw money at the government—with its task forces, sting operations and initiatives—and comfort ourselves that something is being done. We can continue to give money to our churches and synagogues in the hopes that they will do something, perhaps by focusing on the inner cities and offering counseling and assistance to these cast-off children. We can even contact our representatives and insist that they get tough on crime by showing “no leniency” to sexual predators.

However, until each of us gets serious about this crisis, until we all start doing our part to target the underlying societal causes—poverty, drug abuse and dysfunctional family units—the gains will continue to be minimal. And tragically, it will be the children who pay the price for our neglect.

WILL PRIDE DESTROY AMERICA?

We celebrated Independence Day on the Fourth of July but was it independence or a ruse as NWV contributor, Joan Veon questions in her excellent article? She asks, "Are we really free?" And then goes on to explain how we’ve been brought back under British rule and the charade goes back to 1794. While our unconstitutional worthless Federal Reserve notes (Fiat paper money) has a mixture of occult symbols on it, our coins still say "In God We Trust." Many of our earlier official documents referred to God but we have strayed far from our Creator. Psychology and the self-esteem movement is now our religion. If Jesus would visit Calvary today in the flesh as he did more than 2000 years ago, would He ask, "If you are okay, and I’m okay, why am I on this Cross?"

GOD does not like liars

Warning from on High, for these times - from JEREMIAH

23:25 - I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

23:26 - How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?

23:27 - who think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgot my name for Baal.

23:28 - The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? says Yahweh.

23:29 - Isn’t my word like fire? says Yahweh; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

23:30 - Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says Yahweh, who steal my words everyone from his neighbor.

23:31 - Behold, I am against the prophets, says Yahweh, who use their tongues, and say, He says.

23:32 - Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, says Yahweh, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I didn’t send them, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, says Yahweh.

The Religious Right Is AWOL From The Real War

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin - July 23, 2008

I want to begin this column with one of my all-time favorite quotes. It comes from the great German reformer Martin Luther. He said, "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."

Luther's trenchant statement reminds us that today's Christians, especially our Christian leaders, are conspicuously absent from the field of battle. Oh, they may host large crowds in their gatherings; they may deposit multiplied millions of dollars in their financial accounts; they may receive thunderous applause from politicians, but they have fled the battlefield at the point of attack.

For the record, the real battlefield today is not abortion. It is not homosexual marriage. It is not Social Security. It is not al Qaeda. It is not taxes. It is not inflation. It is not electing conservatives. It is not posting the Ten Commandments. It is not even the high cost of gasoline. That is not to say that those issues are not important and not deserving of our best efforts and attention, because they are. But those issues do not represent the major battlefield today.

The battlefield where the devil has amassed his greatest forces and is thrusting his deadliest armies is the surrender of our national sovereignty and independence, and the creation of global government. And it is our own political and corporate leaders that are facilitating this chicanery. Furthermore, by refusing to oppose this surrender, our Christian leaders are complicit as well.

Obviously, the surrender of our independence has been ongoing for some time. However, under Bill Clinton and especially under G.W. Bush, the pace has quickened exponentially.

Doubtless, the biggest reason President Bush has more aggressively hastened the pace of America's merger into supranational government is because he enjoys widespread support among evangelical Christians. Absent opposition from Christian leaders, G.W. Bush has virtually had a free hand. And please know this: before Bush was a Republican, before he was a "conservative," before he was a Christian, he was and is a globalist, as was his father and grandfather before him.

Because our national Christian leaders are content to revel in the lap of political cronyism with President Bush (and the Republican Party), they have abandoned their positions as watchmen on the wall. Instead of being watchmen and heralds of truth, they have become political lackeys and toadies for the GOP.

Now, just yesterday, James Dobson declares that he "might" support John McCain. This in spite of the fact that only a few months ago Mr. Dobson promised, "I cannot and I will not vote for Sen. John McCain as a matter of conscience."

Ah, but that is just the problem: when it comes to groveling before the GOP, our Christian leaders have no conscience. Hence, James Dobson is now publicly saying he "might" support McCain.

The ones who are doing the yeoman's work in trying to warn the American people to what is happening in regard to the surrender of our country's liberties and independence are people such as Congressman Ron Paul and Dr. Jerome Corsi.

Many of you know Corsi as the man who co-authored the Number 1 New York Times best-seller, "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry."

Jerome Corsi holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University in political science. He is not some fringe-radical (not that Harvard hasn't produced its own radicals). Religiously, my understanding is that Corsi is either a Roman Catholic or Episcopalian. However, Corsi is doing what James Dobson, Tony Perkins, et al. should be doing, but aren't: he is sounding the trumpet of truth for the real battlefield.

In a nutshell, Corsi warns us that G.W. Bush is secretly working to merge the United States into a trilateral government with Canada and Mexico. Corsi maintains that back in March of 2005, President Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin entered into an agreement that binds the three countries into a regional or hemispheric government.

Corsi insists that this is one of the central reasons why Bush is so adamant about granting amnesty to Mexico's illegal aliens. Bush is simply following through with his commitment to Fox and Martin.

Corsi also notes that this new hemispheric entity already has a name. It is called the North American Union (NAU), and it is being created without any input (or even knowledge) from our legislative or judicial branches of government. The official name of the agreement made between the three leaders is the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" (SPP). Obviously, the new NAU is modeled after the already established European Union (EU).

Folks, please be aware that President Bush has already committed the United States to a regional or hemispheric government. When completed, this regional government will control everything relative to the "security" and "prosperity" of this new North American Union. That includes everything relating to travel, law enforcement, trade, education, military matters, etc. So, what is left out? Nothing.

Please remember, too, that all of this is being done without any input from the American people or their elected representatives at the state or federal level. I would even dare say that the vast majority of congressmen and senators are completely oblivious to the fact that this is even happening. With the attention of the American people (and Congress) focused on the Middle East, Bush and his cabal of elitists are moving forward with plans to surrender our national independence and merge our country into a regional government. Friends, this is the real war; this is the real battlefield.

When America loses its sovereignty and independence, we will lose all of our fundamental liberties. The Constitution will be meaningless and irrelevant. The Bill of Rights will be moot. The principles of religious liberty, the right to life, and the Christian foundation of our country will be passé. And, as I said at the outset of this column, our national leaders, especially our Christian leaders, are totally absent from this battlefield.

The surrender of our national sovereignty and independence is where the battle currently rages; it is where the devil is at this moment attacking (to quote Luther). But where is the Religious Right? They have flinched and fled in the face of battle. They would rather hold onto their precious perks of power within the ivory towers of partisan politics. Luther is right: their actions are disgraceful.

AMERICANS EMBRACING THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION

...In that column, I pointed out two major factors why Americans are so apathetic and stumbling through life without a clue: fluoride and aspartame.

However, it goes even deeper. By reducing the population to little better than the level of cattle with only basic feelings like hunger, need for water and herding them with a prod (mother government), down goes self-reliance, self-determination and courage. Fed, watered and led to the slaughter house. How is this done? The master plans for inculcating the communist morality (communitarianism) into the American landscape has been underway for a century and that's exactly what it does to people: takes away their self-esteem, individualism, their drive for success and lumps them in with the "community." They are manipulated into believing that a Godless (secular) nation is good; what the Founding Fathers wanted! This is necessary for communism to exist and thrive. ...

America needs Prayer

Is US Doomed?

There are naysayers enough. The faith builders are needed. The hope messengers are necessary.

Be a part of that vanguard that holds to Scripture as divine revelation, believing God is still upon His throne, and the biblical promises are unfolding according to God's way and timing.

God states forthrightly in His Word that nothing is impossible with Him. Therefore, biblical believers breathe that hope every waking hour.

The God of the impossible is moving now throughout America wherever the righteous remnant continues to intercede in holiness.

ARE WE SOARING EAGLES OR SITTING DUCKS?

A message to the Status Quo:

How many more Americans must be sacrificed to the “Gods of Globalism”?

When will the Citizens of the United States of America stand up?

How about right now? This American has had enough!

I couldn’t care less about your global ambitions. I despise your so called “free” trade agreements and the deals you have made with the devil in the name of promoting cheap sub-standard junk from China and Latin America.

(Hoffa testifies on trade with China) [YouTube video]

What is now happening to my country is unacceptable. I will not sit quietly by while another American dies because of your reluctance to anger special interest groups, your greed for greater profits, and your sick twisted need for more power and influence.

(Bill O’Reilly report on the cost of illegal immigration) [YouTube video]

You work for me, remember?

IT’S HIGH NOON AND THERE’S A RECKONING ON MAIN STREET

As the picture became clear, it was easy to see the other players in this den of vipers and thieves. These included Barack "Honolulu Kid" Obama, and John "Forestall" McCain. Only Chuck "the Parson" Baldwin ran a clean, honorable campaign.

Martial law, detention camps, forced inoculations for H5N1, national depopulation programs, regional conflict with illegals and foreign provocateurs, as well as domestic terrorists, will be the opening act for a "false flag" situation that will be the ace trump card on Bernanke’s game table. The "town" will unravel and the corrupt power brokers intend to be there to pick up and corner all the pieces of this great nation into a fiefdom that will rival Middle Ages Europe. All of us will have ringside seats.

The clock is ticking toward high noon. The showdown is coming. Will you stand with the “good guys” or will you cave in to the evil ones? Forget the silly dream. Remember this truth. You WILL make a choice in real life. It is better that you know what you’re choosing NOW, before the men in black have their pistols pointed right in your face, demanding a choice you are unwilling to make.

Ron Paul Freedom March - by Dr. Chuck Baldwin

by Dr. Chuck Baldwin - July 15, 2008

I was privileged to be invited to speak at Congressman Ron Paul's Freedom March this past Saturday on the Mall in front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. In fact, I spoke immediately preceding Dr. Paul and helped introduce the ten-term congressman.

I gauged the crowd to number in excess of five thousand people. All the participants I observed were very respectful, well mannered, and polite. The crowd was about as diverse an audience as I have ever spoken to. They came from all walks of life and from all points across the country. I was able to spend an hour or more mingling with the crowd and was delighted to meet many scores of people who already knew of me. A large number indicated that they were readers of this column.

Participants in the Freedom March all seemed to have this in common: a love and desire for liberty, and a deep respect and admiration for Congressman Ron Paul. I count it an honor to have been asked to speak to such a wonderful group. Dr. Paul said some extremely kind words about me in his remarks, as did the man who introduced me, Ernest Hancock, the great patriot from Phoenix, Arizona.

I was also honored to meet several great Americans whom I have come to love and respect over the years: people such as retired police officer, Jack McLamb. It was also good to share the podium with my good friend, Howard Phillips, who was extremely complimentary of me during his address, as was Officer McLamb.

Marchers had spent six hours in the blazing, 90-degree sun before my turn to speak arrived. And both Congressman Paul and myself had to catch flights out of DC soon after our speeches, so I cut my remarks short so as to give Dr. Paul maximum opportunity to deliver his remarks. Therefore, my speech lasted only about 5 minutes.

Below is a link to my speech at Ron Paul's Freedom March (albeit the opening remarks of the address were inadvertently omitted. Perhaps another video will surface soon. When it does, we will post it to my web site at http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com ).

See my speech at the Ron Paul Freedom March in Washington, D.C. at http://www.independentpoliticalreport.com:80/2008/07/video-of-chuck-baldwins-remarks-at-revolution-march/

This one thing I surely believe: our liberties and freedoms, yea, the Constitution itself, are hanging by the thinnest of threads. Both major parties have sliced and diced constitutional government to the point that there isn't much left. And the two presumptive candidates for President from the two major parties will only continue to eviscerate what few freedoms and liberties are left.

Both Barack Obama and John McCain will do nothing to secure our borders and ports. Neither will do anything to quench the thirst of our federal government for intrusions abroad and meddling within. Neither will do anything to stop the machinations and lust of the power-elite for globalism and corporatism. They will do nothing to stop the NAFTA superhighway or the burgeoning North American Union. They will do nothing to rid our country of its dependence on foreign oil, and neither will they do anything to stop the infatuation with spending billions and billions of taxpayer dollars on foreign aid. Elect either John McCain or Barack Obama and it will be business as usual in Washington, D.C.

Those folks who traveled from all over America to participate in Ron Paul's Freedom March last Saturday understand this. They understand that unless we awaken quickly to what the two major parties are doing to our country, we will not have a free country much longer. This is why so many people were willing to travel long distances and march in searing heat. They want their country back. And so do I.

So, I say, God bless Congressman Ron Paul. God bless those Freedom Marchers. And God bless all of those folks throughout America who are working tirelessly to restore our once-great republic. As I said in my speech last
Saturday, "Your fight is my fight!"

McDonald's boils Barfo Burgers for Perverts & Illegals

Ronald McDonald supports illegal aliens!

Americans For Truth Supports AFA's McDonald's Boycott

Millions of Americans are not "lovin’" McDonald’s promotion of the homosexual and transsexual activist agenda. So far McDonald’s is not budging in its pro-homosexual advocacy. American Family Association has officially launched a boycott of the fast food chain. Homosexual activists are already vowing to buy the fattening food to spite AFA. You can contact McDonald’s HERE.

Something Big is Happening - Ron Paul

by Rep. Ron Paul, M.D. - July 9, 2008

Madam Speaker, I have, for the past 35 years, expressed my grave concern for the future of America . The course we have taken over the past century has threatened our liberties, security and prosperity. In spite of these long-held concerns, I have days--growing more frequent all the time--when I'm convinced the time is now upon us that some Big Events are about to occur. These fast-approaching events will not go unnoticed. They will affect all of us. They will not be limited to just some areas of our country. The world economy and political system will share in the chaos about to be unleashed.

Though the world has long suffered from the senselessness of wars that should have been avoided, my greatest fear is that the course on which we find ourselves will bring even greater conflict and economic suffering to the innocent people of the world--unless we quickly change our ways.

America , with her traditions of free markets and property rights, led the way toward great wealth and progress throughout the world as well as at home. Since we have lost our confidence in the principles of liberty, self reliance, hard work and frugality, and instead took on empire building, financed through inflation and debt, all this has changed. This is indeed frightening and an historic event.

The problem we face is not new in history. Authoritarianism has been around a long time. For centuries, inflation and debt have been used by tyrants to hold power, promote aggression, and provide “bread and circuses” for the people. The notion that a country can afford “guns and butter” with no significant penalty existed even before the 1960s when it became a popular slogan. It was then, though, we were told the Vietnam War and the massive expansion of the welfare state were not problems. The seventies proved that assumption wrong.

Today things are different from even ancient times or the 1970s. There is something to the argument that we are now a global economy. The world has more people and is more integrated due to modern technology, communications, and travel. If modern technology had been used to promote the ideas of liberty, free markets, sound money and trade, it would have ushered in a new golden age--a globalism we could accept.

Instead, the wealth and freedom we now enjoy are shrinking and rest upon a fragile philosophic infrastructure. It is not unlike the levies and bridges in our own country that our system of war and welfare has caused us to ignore.

I'm fearful that my concerns have been legitimate and may even be worse than I first thought. They are now at our doorstep. Time is short for making a course correction before this grand experiment in liberty goes into deep hibernation.

There are reasons to believe this coming crisis is different and bigger than the world has ever experienced. Instead of using globalism in a positive fashion, it's been used to globalize all of the mistakes of the politicians, bureaucrats and central bankers.

Being an unchallenged sole superpower was never accepted by us with a sense of humility and respect. Our arrogance and aggressiveness have been used to promote a world empire backed by the most powerful army of history. This type of globalist intervention creates problems for all citizens of the world and fails to contribute to the well-being of the world's populations. Just think how our personal liberties have been trashed here at home in the last decade.

The financial crisis, still in its early stages, is apparent to everyone: gasoline prices over $4 a gallon; skyrocketing education and medical-care costs; the collapse of the housing bubble; the bursting of the NASDAQ bubble; stock markets plunging; unemployment rising; massive underemployment; excessive government debt; and unmanageable personal debt. Little doubt exists as to whether we'll get stagflation. The question that will soon be asked is: When will the stagflation become an inflationary depression?

There are various reasons that the world economy has been globalized and the problems we face are worldwide. We cannot understand what we're facing without understanding fiat money and the long-developing dollar bubble.

There were several stages. From the inception of the Federal Reserve System in 1913 to 1933, the Central Bank established itself as the official dollar manager. By 1933, Americans could no longer own gold, thus removing restraint on the Federal Reserve to inflate for war and welfare.

By 1945, further restraints were removed by creating the Bretton-Woods Monetary System making the dollar the reserve currency of the world. This system lasted up until 1971. During the period between 1945 and 1971, some restraints on the Fed remained in place. Foreigners, but not Americans, could convert dollars to gold at $35 an ounce. Due to the excessive dollars being created, that system came to an end in 1971.

It's the post Bretton-Woods system that was responsible for globalizing inflation and markets and for generating a gigantic worldwide dollar bubble. That bubble is now bursting, and we're seeing what it's like to suffer the consequences of the many previous economic errors.

Ironically in these past 35 years, we have benefited from this very flawed system. Because the world accepted dollars as if they were gold, we only had to counterfeit more dollars, spend them overseas (indirectly encouraging our jobs to go overseas as well) and enjoy unearned prosperity. Those who took our dollars and gave us goods and services were only too anxious to loan those dollars back to us. This allowed us to export our inflation and delay the consequences we now are starting to see.

But it was never destined to last, and now we have to pay the piper. Our huge foreign debt must be paid or liquidated. Our entitlements are coming due just as the world has become more reluctant to hold dollars. The consequence of that decision is price inflation in this country--and that's what we are witnessing today. Already price inflation overseas is even higher than here at home as a consequence of foreign central banks' willingness to monetize our debt.

Printing dollars over long periods of time may not immediately push prices up--yet in time it always does. Now we're seeing catch-up for past inflating of the monetary supply. As bad as it is today with $4 a gallon gasoline, this is just the beginning. It's a gross distraction to hound away at “drill, drill, drill” as a solution to the dollar crisis and high gasoline prices. Its okay to let the market increase supplies and drill, but that issue is a gross distraction from the sins of deficits and Federal Reserve monetary shenanigans.

This bubble is different and bigger for another reason. The central banks of the world secretly collude to centrally plan the world economy. I'm convinced that agreements among central banks to “monetize” U.S. debt these past 15 years have existed, although secretly and out of the reach of any oversight of anyone--especially the U.S. Congress that doesn't care, or just flat doesn't understand. As this “gift” to us comes to an end, our problems worsen. The central banks and the various governments are very powerful, but eventually the markets overwhelm when the people who get stuck holding the bag (of bad dollars) catch on and spend the dollars into the economy with emotional zeal, thus igniting inflationary fever.

This time--since there are so many dollars and so many countries involved--the Fed has been able to “paper” over every approaching crisis for the past 15 years, especially with Alan Greenspan as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, which has allowed the bubble to become history's greatest.

The mistakes made with excessive credit at artificially low rates are huge, and the market is demanding a correction. This involves excessive debt, misdirected investments, over-investments, and all the other problems caused by the government when spending the money they should never have had. Foreign militarism, welfare handouts and $80 trillion entitlement promises are all coming to an end. We don't have the money or the wealth-creating capacity to catch up and care for all the needs that now exist because we rejected the market economy, sound money, self reliance and the principles of liberty.

Since the correction of all this misallocation of resources is necessary and must come, one can look for some good that may come as this “Big Event” unfolds.

There are two choices that people can make. The one choice that is unavailable to us is to limp along with the status quo and prop up the system with more debt, inflation and lies. That won't happen.

One of the two choices, and the one chosen so often by government in the past is that of rejecting the principles of liberty and resorting to even bigger and more authoritarian government. Some argue that giving dictatorial powers to the President, just as we have allowed him to run the American empire, is what we should do. That's the great danger, and in this post-911 atmosphere, too many Americans are seeking safety over freedom. We have already lost too many of our personal liberties already. Real fear of economic collapse could prompt central planners to act to such a degree that the New Deal of the 30's might look like Jefferson 's Declaration of Independence.

The more the government is allowed to do in taking over and running the economy, the deeper the depression gets and the longer it lasts. That was the story of the 30s and the early 40s, and the same mistakes are likely to be made again if we do not wake up.

But the good news is that it need not be so bad if we do the right thing. I saw “Something Big” happening in the past 18 months on the campaign trail. I was encouraged that we are capable of waking up and doing the right thing. I have literally met thousands of high school and college kids who are quite willing to accept the challenge and responsibility of a free society and reject the cradle-to-grave welfare that is promised them by so many do-good politicians.

If more hear the message of liberty, more will join in this effort. The failure of our foreign policy, welfare system, and monetary policies and virtually all government solutions are so readily apparent, it doesn't take that much convincing. But the positive message of how freedom works and why it's possible is what is urgently needed.

One of the best parts of accepting self reliance in a free society is that true personal satisfaction with one's own life can be achieved. This doesn't happen when the government assumes the role of guardian, parent or provider, because it eliminates a sense of pride. But the real problem is the government can't provide the safety and economic security that it claims. The so called good that government claims it can deliver is always achieved at the expense of someone else's freedom. It's a failed system and the young people know it.

Restoring a free society doesn't eliminate the need to get our house in order and to pay for the extravagant spending. But the pain would not be long-lasting if we did the right things, and best of all the empire would have to end for financial reasons. Our wars would stop, the attack on civil liberties would cease, and prosperity would return. The choices are clear: it shouldn't be difficult, but the big event now unfolding gives us a great opportunity to reverse the tide and resume the truly great American Revolution started in 1776. Opportunity knocks in spite of the urgency and the dangers we face.

Let's make “Something Big Is Happening” be the discovery that freedom works and is popular and the big economic and political event we're witnessing is a blessing in disguise.

Real Change

by Dr. Ron Paul, MC

One reason people are unhappy with the way politics and governments operate is that people who run for office are known to “say one thing and do another.” Thus, we have the call for “change.” Candidates for high office make frequent use of that word. Even our House Republican Conference’s recently released slogan highlights that word.

Yet, bringing about change is easier said than done. The American people are aware that government is broken and must be fixed. They will demand more than lip service as our problems become more severe.

Change, then, cannot simply be a word. It must be the right program, one that gets us out of this mess, not one that just accelerates us down the same treacherous path. With our economy facing a perilous situation, the need to bring fiscal reform to our government is the cornerstone of the kind of change that is needed. Real budgetary and monetary reform would signify a true change of direction, instead of merely a change of speed toward the economic cliff we are approaching.

Americans realize that their own financial situation is perilous. The nation as a whole is deeply in debt, having mortgaged the future of our children and grandchildren. When politicians talk about what they plan to do for future generatio
